Navidad, Navidad!

Well boys and girls, it's that time again.  Finals are upon us, and stress has ensued to control my life...until Monday anyway.  Currently, I have a paper due and exam to take tomorrow, and then the same repeated on Monday.  The only catch is that I, for some reason, thought my Monday assignments were due on Wednesday...so for the past week I've not done a single thing to prepare for either the test or paper, thinking that I would have almost an entire week to dedicate to it after I finish my Thursday assignments.  You can imagine my dismay when my professor commented on the final on Monday.  It's going to be a looong weekend.

Meanwhile, I completely forgot to tell about Christmas. Jessie was getting married New Year's Eve and couldn't get Christmas off, so Christmas was postponed until things settled down and she  could get a minute to come up.  So March 24th was the date we came up with..which was conveniently the weekend that Hunger Games came out.  So Jessie and Aaron came up after work on Thurs 22nd and met us downtown at about 10pm at the theater where we proceeded to sport our Hunger Games tshirts and wait for 2 hours to see the midnight showing.  It was a first time experience for me, but super fun.  Not that I want to go to EVERY midnight showing...but probably all of the Hunger Games ones.
Us with some ppl dress up. The girl in the middle
worked on her outfit for 3 months!! That's dedication.
Waiting in line

We got home at 4am-ish (don't worry, someone was spending the night at the house with Audrey - we aren't terrible parents).  But boy did that 8am wake up call come early!!  Friday we didn't do all that much besides be zombies desperate to get Audrey to take a nap.  The five of us went to Red and Green, an all you can eat meat/steak Portuguese restaurant. But that evening, the hoards came in...Jim/Angela and Jimmy/Michelle.  It was a packed house, but we all fit and pretty comfortably.

Then Saturday.  When Jessie got married, Jim found that he could buy a tux for the same price he could rent one...so he now owns a tuxedo...and looks for ANY opportunity to wear it. So earlier he deemed that this Christmas should be a formal one.  Everyone would don their finest apparel while we dined an elegant meal and had a civil Christmas gift exchange.  By Saturday morning we were all plotting on how to let him down, b/c basically no one else in the family wanted to dress up just so he could wear a tux.  To our surprise, he took it very well, with an "I don't care what ya'll do...but I'ma look goooood." Then the next feat: we really don't want to cook a big dinner (and I REALLY didn't want to clean up one).  Which again...he took the news fine and dandy.  So we decided that after gifts, we would all go bowling and eat at the ally.  (Jim complete with tux, of course)

It was way fun, but when we got home, I was soooo tired and sooo ready to go to bed.  But Jared's family has no faint of heart.  When we got home, they were ready to stay up and play taboo or something.  I simply can't keep up with them. Haha.  Sunday everyone woke up and left at their leisure, but I woke with a terrible pain in my back (which continued for the next two weeks).  I suffered through going to school, thinking that surely this kink in my back would go away, but slowly and surely it spread and became so intense that by Fri I was nearly in tears and couldn't find a position that was not unbearable.  So I called my OB and asked if they had any idea of what to do, so we made an impromptu Dr visit, who deemed a muscle pulled and gave me a prescription for muscle relaxers and bladder infection antibiotics (?...i'm still confused by the last one)  Finally, after another week of sitting/standing/laying carefully -btw...just in case anyone doesn't already know, muscle relaxers DO NOT take the pain away as one would think.  basically they just dope you up enough so you can sleep through it-  I finally felt like a real human being again.  I would take a pill at night to help me sleep, but other than that I went through the day as usual.  Aaaand that was Christmas.  So eventful, I maimed myself.
