Easter Fun

Well, I got off my butt and got all the Easter basket essentials.  I even got one for Jared too.  Just in case Audrey didn't get the hang of it and the egg hunt was more of a chore for us than fun for her, I figured it would be fun to do it for him too. Wal-mart was CRAZY! I was definitely no the only procrastinator... it was fun though.  I got a little jack and the beanstalk book, her first pack of crayons, some bubbles, goldfish crackers for her eggs and some welch's fruit snacks.  Jared's basket included a Gun and Ammo magazine (which he LOVED), sidewalk chalk, gum, bubbles (i tried to start practicing putting similar items in baskets), some starburst jelly beans, and flavored tootsie rolls for his eggs.  When Jared found out I didn't get any basket stuff for myself, he decided that I would hide his basket, but HE would hide his eggs for me to find. In my family we always had to find our basket first and then the eggs with our initial on them. That was a pretty foreign concept to Jared, so I figured that I would explain.

So Easter morning: we don't have church until 12.30p so we woke up whenever Audrey did and had breakfast, then Audrey noticed an egg...and the noise when she shook it.  So she was hooked.  Jared helped her find the basket in the fireplace, and then each egg (11 in total).  She loved putting them in her basket and shaking them...and once she found out they had goodies inside them, she would throw them on the floor to break them open. She's a smart one.  Jared found his basket in the oven and I found 7 of the 11 eggs, then had to get his help for the last 4...it was fun.  I'm definitely looking forward to future Easters.

Though church was a bit of a challenge.  Between Ben, various sickness passing from baby to us, and then General Conference, I guess we just haven't been to church in a few weeks...and Audrey was not remembering how to act... So what was expected to be a very uplifting meeting was, eh, not so much. But that's ok...she gets to go to nursery soon. Very soon. But not quite soon enough. Haha.

Oh, and then there is the case of the disappearing parents! Every Sunday I call my folks and have our Sunday call.  I called them at about 3.30/4p when we got home from church and no answer.  That's fine, I get they aren't recluses glued to the phone.  So I try again at 5.30p.  Mom doesn't answer, so I call Dad  thinking Mom didn't hear it, or accidentally had it on silent.  No answer! Sooo...I call the house phone.  Could it be that both phones were dead and charging?  Nothing.  Hmmm...should I worry?  I realize that my hormones are berzerck, but this is weird, right?  So I call Shirley and Mike's.  The van is gone, so they might be home teaching (visiting someone from church.)...but who does that on EASTER? So I call Jim (Jared's dad, my dad's BFF) NO ANSWER.  Who every has kidnapped my parents has surely taken Jim and Angela captive too!  So I call Jessie (Jared's sister) just for kicks.  NO ANSWER! Holy mess...now this is just strange.  Mind you, I KNOW they are fine...well not kidnapped by crazy people and being held hostage.  But it's still weird.  Well, Dad finally calls me back at 6p.  They were at Jim's and didn't want to be rude....and while Jim would normally answer his kid's phone call in that situation, he couldn't really justify it when Dad and Mom both just ignored their daughter for fear of being rude.  Jessie...she just never answers her phone...that's not unusual.  Anyway....my way of making something interesting that wasn't.
